Rare Entertainment is a growing Australian sports media and entertainment business operating across digital subscriptions, advertising, live events and partnerships, including The Grade Cricketer brand.

We are seeking a capable Finance Manager to oversee financial control, compliance, and operational finance on a part-time basis. The focus of this role is financial accuracy, compliance and process discipline rather than strategic finance or commercial leadership.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Directors, this role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial records, statutory compliance, and disciplined financial processes across the business.
This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced finance professional who is comfortable operating autonomously within a small but growing organisation.

Key Responsibilities
​
Financial Control & Bookkeeping

Maintain accurate and reconciled accounts in QuickBooks

Ensure correct GST treatment and documentation

Manage international revenue streams and cross-border tax considerations

Manage month-end processes

Payroll & Compliance
-
Run monthly payroll (including leave management)

Lodge IAS (monthly) and BAS (quarterly)

Ensure PAYG, STSL and superannuation compliance
-
Manage lodgements through ATO Online Services

Revenue & Reconciliation
-
Reconcile income streams
-
Manage incoming and outgoing invoices
-
Oversee distribution calculations and commission tracking
-
Maintain accounts receivable oversight
​
Payments and Process Oversight
-
Manage superannuation clearing house payments
-
Review and process recurring expenses (e.g. rent, insurance)

Maintain process documentation

Candidate Profile
-
5+ years’ experience in finance, bookkeeping, or SME accounting
-
Strong QuickBooks capability
-
Demonstrated BAS and IAS lodgement experience
-
Solid understanding of Australian GST and payroll compliance
-
Highly organised with strong attention to detail
-
Comfortable working independently

Remuneration
Full-time equivalent: $90,000
Pro-rata (0.2–0.4 FTE): $18,000–$36,000 depending on agreed days
